People are trying to be me so it is time for me to move on

Madowo told his fans that most television stations in Kenya were trying to copy him and he was not ready to compete with that.

"If you look at Friday night television in Kenya right now, everybody is trying to do what I have done. Yes, I said it everybody is trying to do what Larry Madowo has done. They are copying the Trend, everyone on every channel.

"I think I cannot compete with my students anymore. People are trying to be me so it is time for me to move on. That is the simple reason," he said.

The journalist took a jibe at the television industry in Kenya highlighting that there were no fresh ideas being initiated highlighting that it was only a copy cat business.

"Kenya idea of TV innovation is monkey see monkey do. We do something successful everybody else tries to do it, So I am done trying to give people ideas," he said.

Madowo hinted at starting something different show on NTV which nobody else is doing in Kenya.

"I am gonna try and maybe on a different night on Television try something else so that all other people may copy," he mentioned

Apart from this, Madowo noted that because of the countless engagements he has which has seen him travel out of the country, he has not been able to give the show his all.

"Sometimes it is good to focus on something and drop others," Madowo stated.

He divulged that next Friday will be his last show then somebody else who he did not disclose would pick up the Trend as the show host.

The show presenter said he was grateful to host The Trend for the last four and a half years.

"Next week Friday will be my final show. I have been blessed to have some of the greatest people around the world to just come and speak to me.

"I want to say thank to all the people who have watched this show. This has been the best gig on television," Madowo remarked.
