Private investigator Jane Wawira Mugo has addressed being put on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) wanted list.

Wawira said she was innocent adding that the arrest warrant issued against her has been fueled by an investigation case she has been working on.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Wawira claimed she was being hunted for probing alleged corruption among top security officials in the government.

I am not surprised because I saw it coming, and I had already been prepared by some of the officers I had worked with," the private investigator stated.

"I had already been told that since I am working on a sensitive matter, and the matter is touching on some senior government officials… So it is a total witch-hunting of the people in government who feel they are untouchable,” she added.

Not afraid

She stated that she has been a private investigator since 2010, having undertaken training, and a criminology course.

Wawira said that 6 police officers who have been working with her informed her they had been threatened.

The private investigator pointed a finger at the government saying they are painting her as a criminal in order to intimidate her.

I am not afraid… I want Kenyans to know where I committed the robbery where with what and where is the OB number,” Wawira said.

Crimes committed

However, the DCI announced that Wawira is wanted for alleged robbery with violence, impersonation and threatening to kill.

Ms Mugo is accused of drawing a pistol and threatening to kill a man on August 15, 2019, in New Muthaiga Estate, Nairobi.
