Telecommunication company, Safaricom has issued a warning to M-Pesa users across the country.
In a statement, Safaricom stated that the service will not be available for two hours on Friday 30th June 2017.
"M-Pesa services will be unavailable from 1 am to 3 am on Friday," the press statement read in part.
Confirming the report, Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore noted that this will be in a bid to allow the company to upgrade its systems.
“This upgrade paves the way for the next phase of M-Pesa and will enable [the delivery of] more value for our customers and partners,” he said.
Other services that will be unavailable on July 5th include: International money transfer services, KCB M-Pesa, M-Shwari and M-Kesho.
Safaricom added that users will also experience periodic system interruptions over the next three weeks.
According to firm, M-Pesa will be switching to a new mobile money transfer platform, likely to cause a 12 hour outage.
"A number of M-Pesa services will be withdrawn in the lead to the changeover," he mentioned.
The full implementation of the new plan will occur mid July.
