Munya’s new appointment after dumping Raila for Uhuru

The former Meru Governor has now been named as....

The Registrar of Political Parties Lucy Ndungu in a gazette notice published on Friday confirmed the reinstatement after he was ousted last month.

"The list of party officials of the Party of National Unity as contained in Gazette Notice No. 8315 of 2017 is cancelled," the notice read.

The Registrar had last month had removed Munya as PNU leader replacing him with former President Mwai Kibaki.

Munya had complained that the move to remove him as PNU leader was ‘a blatant disregard of the law’.

The gazette notice also restored Secretary General John Okemwa, Paul Rukaria (deputy secretary general), national vice chairman Sheikh Juma Ngao, national vice chairman-operations David Kamau, National Treasurer Peter Kaberia, Deputy National Treasurer Anastacia Munyendo and National Organising Secretary Stephen Koskei among others.

Earlier this month Munya ditched NASA and pledged to rally his supporters to support Kenyatta ahead of the repeat presidential elections scheduled for October 17 barely a week after joining the coalition.

He said that following consultations, the decision to support President Kenyatta was in the best interest of the country.

“After thorough consultations with our party members, elders and supporters across the country, it has been agreed that in the very best interest of the country we support President Kenyatta in the forthcoming presidential election,” Munya disclosed.

NASA leader Raila Odinga revealed that Munya was called (to State House) and blackmailed into going back to support Kenyatta and that he was under undue pressure.

The former Prime Minister said that Munya's latest move would not dent his candidature in the Meru region as he received a lot of votes in the area while the former governor was supporting Kenyatta in the August 8 elections.
