Japan's ambassador to Kenya spoke fluent Swahili and social media thought it was better than Muhoho Kenyatta

The ambassador was addressing Kirinyaga residents who were impressed by his Swahili

Kenyans online have been heaping praise on Japan's ambassador to Kenya Toshitsugu Uesawa after having a go at the country's national language during a public function.

Toshitsugu was addressing constituents of Kirinyaga county in Central Kenya during the launch of the construction of the Sh19 billion Thiba Dam graced by President Kenyatta.

"Sisi tuko hapa kwa kufanya ground breaking ceremony for the Mwea Irrigation Development project. Japan itachangia shillngi millioni 12 kwa kujenga irrigation dam na kadhalika, kwa kusaidia watu wa Kirinyaga kupanda mchele (We are here for the ground breaking ceremony of the Mwea Irrigation Devt. Project. Japan will donate Sh12 million towards the construction of the irrigation dam, in order to help the people of Kirinyaga grow rice)," he said amid applause from the crowd.

Such was the eloquence in his speech that some Kenyans thought his Swahili was a notch above President Kenyatta's son,Muhoho Kenyatta.

Muhoho was slammed a few months back for not having a good mastery of the national language when asked to address residents of Nandi County by Deputy President William Ruto.

He struggled to give a vote of thanks in Swahili leaving many of the residents in shock. At some point, he had to use a cell phone to give the speech which he still struggled to read.

Here is what Kenyans had to say about the two:

Kirwai Kip: Elsewhere president stupid son can't speak or even read swahili.

Lord Franny: From Japan with kiswahili yet our son from the royal family (muhoho) can't read this sentence in kiswahili 'madodo chapo na supu kando)

Kevin Ndanyi: Better fluency than jaba muhoho Kenyatta
