Raila Odinga among high-profile guests to grace Uganda Young Democrats reunion in Makerere
The upcoming celebrations are aimed at reviving the spirit of togetherness within the party
Democratic Party (DP) president Norbert Mao, who is a former UYD leader, confirmed Odinga’s attendance, adding that several other leaders from all over the world have also been invited.
UYD, the youth wing of the opposition Democratic Party (DP), says the upcoming celebrations are aimed at reviving the spirit of togetherness within, especially now that most of the members who were no longer active in party activities are at the fore front of organizing the event.
Corruption
Mr Mao said they have embarked on fresh struggles to have change and fight unprecedented corruption, insecurity, increasing murders and impunity under the current regime.
Some of the other guests expected at the event include; Mr Nelson Chamisa from Zimbabwe (leader of Opposition in Zimbabwe), Senator Hassan Omar from Kenya, Mr Fikile Mbalula (former minister in South Africa), Dr Paul Williams (Member of Parliament in British’s House of Commons) and several ambassadors.
Mr Samuel Lubega, the chairman of the organising committee, said the timing of the conference comes at a time when the failures of President Yoweri Museveni and his government are scattered all over the country.
