There is never a dull moment In Kenya. From political intrigues to rib cracking trends, you are always bound to be entertained. A new ingenious product has taken the Kenyan market by storm, literally.

Durex has introduced an avocado flavored condom in a move that is the very definition of pushing the envelope in innovation and trend-setting. Already in stores countrywide, the condoms are flying off the shelf at dizzying speed.

“I don’t know why people are in love with it, but I have been selling so many packets and at times my stocks have run out,” says an animated shopkeeper.

There are varied explanations as to why Durex chose this rather unconventional flavor, but the government ban on the export of avocados has seemed to have created a surplus of the fruit which an uncanny executive chose to exploit.

There have been heated debates on the efficacy of using the avocado flavored condoms and an interesting point made is that it has increased health benefits. Apparently naturally avocado has more potassium than bananas and other fruits.

“To be honest, I don’t know why I buy them except for the sheer absurdity of the ‘avocado flavor.’ It is just madness in a funky way. As for their effectiveness, I have no comment for now,” narrates Mwaura who has become hooked on the new condoms.

After the wild success of the new line of flavors, Durex has become emboldened and have just rolled out another never seen before flavor, “Nyama Choma” flavor. Clearly they took the song “Manyake’’ very literally.

By the time of going to press, we had not yet received ample feedback on the “Nyama Choma” flavor but if the success of the avocado flavor is anything to go by, the “Nyama Choma” flavor seems poised for success.
