Why you will no longer access Uber, Little Cab and Taxify services

Thousands of Nairobians who rely on the taxi services have been affected.

Nairobi residents currently cannot access E-Taxi services after the drivers downed their tools.

E-hailing drivers on popular cab services such as Uber, Little, Taxify and Mondo Ride platforms have gone on strike in protest against unfriendly policies by their service providers.

“We online drivers and partners would like to inform our esteemed customers that as from this coming Monday 11/9/2017 our services shall not be available until further notice. This is due to improper management of our service providers which has been making us to work for long hours only to get nothing,” a statement by the drivers read.

According to the Standard, the drivers are also complaining about the cab hailing companies continuously increasing discounts and free rides without consultation.

The drivers are now demanding an immediate increase in the minimum charge and stop the on-boarding of new drivers saying that the move has negatively impacted their income and affected competition.

The strike has affected thousands of Nairobi residents who rely on the online cab providers on a day-to-day basis.

In February, a section of Uber taxi drivers went on strike to demand for higher rates because of low profits.

They complained of using a lot of fuel to get to their clients only for the rides to earn them very little.

Regular cab drivers were unhappy over the E-taxis cheap pricing model, which they argued had taken away their business, and had been plotting to push the competition out of Nairobi.
