The families of Mohan Singh Dhanjal and Satwant Singh Dhanjal had contacted Sonko and informed him of how they have been receiving threats from cartels who wanted to grab their land.

After seeking assistance from the area chief, the families were ordered to deposit the original Title Deed allegedly over a debt of Sh350,000 which they said they never owed.

“After going through their land documents, I found out that they were the genuine owners and I decided to take action,” Sonko divulged.

The families went to the chief accompanied by undercover EACC officers who arrested him after he demanded Sh30, 000 for ‘protection’.

The Chief and the area DO who were to share the money were arrested and taken to Kilimani Police Station pending arraignment in court.

Residents have accused the two officials of colluding with the police to grab and sell land in the area.

Sonko vowed to fight land-grabbing cartels who have been terrorising city residents.

"As I promised, the days of the cartels who have been tormenting and defrauding honest, hardworking Kenyans came to an end the day I assumed office," he declared.
