The Tourism CS disclosed the tragic news on Wednesday.
Through his twitter handle, Balala paid tribute to the late Harunani, whom he considered like an elder brother.
"To Allah, we belong, and to Him, we will return. Zul Harunani of Shehnai Restaurant, passed away earlier this afternoon.
"I have known Zul since my early 20s when I joined the tourism industry. He was like an older brother to me. We will miss him dearly, Rest In Peace Zul," part of the statement by the CS read.
Until his demise, Zul was the Executive Member and Conselliur Culinaire of Chaine Des Rotisseur and Chairman of Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK).
Meanwhile, Balala was one of the six Cabinet Secretary retained by President Uhuru Kenyatta in the new appointments.
