Ok, so this all makes for good internet fodder, but the whole thing seems unlikely right? There's no way you wouldn't feel the nerve, because that's what nerves do, right? Right?
We asked Dr. Robert Glatter, emergency physician at Lenox Hill Hospital whether this seems legit.
"[It's} highly unlikely she cut a nerve," he tells Men's Health.
The reason is a little complex, but Glatter says there isn't one single nerve that leads to the nipple.
"Branches from the sixth intercostal nerve supply the lower part of the breast but there is typically no direct branch to the nipple itself," he says.
Instead, there are a network of nerves located pretty deep underneath the nipple. Chances are, none would ever poke through the skin.
At the most, she may have cut a duct or sinus coming from the nipple, says Glatter.
Men's Health reached out to the original poster for more information and will update this story when and if we hear back.
But for now, it doesn't appear this story is 100 percent true, which is another good reminder not to trust everything on Twitter.
