Taking to social media to break the news Akothee wrote:

In the past Akothee has spoken about her grandpa who she says taught her so many life lessons that she values to date. He taught her that love is not giving out money to those you love but being present and showing care and attention to those you love.

“ I look back at the old days when my grandpa was strong enough to take care of us, we had great times, learnt so many life lessons from him, things that I value to date, if at any point he ever gave me money I can barely relate now, the money I probably bought Mandazi with it and that is how the kobole iliisha, but the care and attention including life lessons live in me till now, love and affection is not shown through giving out money but through being present, show care and attention to your kids coz they live with this more than the mere child support you send.” Akothee wrote.
