He narrates!

Bob Collymore bought my first green suit – Jalang’o

Comedian and radio presenter Jalang’o has disclosed details of how Bob Collymore helped him get his first green suit, which he ended up making his signature look.

He narrated how he had been hired to emcee the Niko na Safaricom Live concerts across the country when Bob walked back stage while in Eldoret and found him in his Cheetah print blouse that was his signature look at the time.

Collymore asked why he was the only one with a bad costume compared to others. He then asked the designer hired to dress the participants to bring Jalang’o a green suit which he liked and he has never looked back since.

Bob then advised him to say that green was his brand, whenever he was called on to emcee in an event or company whose colour was not green.

DID YOU KNOW THAT IT’S BOB COLLYMORE WHO ADVISED AND GOT ME MY FIRST GREEN SUIT?

When Safaricom started its second leg of Niko Na Safaricom Live I was selected to host the concerts in the whole country, then I used to wear my cheetah printed blouse ( it's a blouse not a shirt ) and any other trouser I got...the cheetah printed shirt was my trade mark until one day Bob walked back stage at the Eldoret CSR activity and asked me why everyone dressed up and had good costumes apart from me, I told him it's because of my character which he then said dont you think you could look better in a suit? I just laughed but then he asked @56authentique who was dressing us that time to get me a green suit..I liked it and as they say the rest is history! I have since made the green suit my signature look without telling anyone that's its Safaricom green!! I actually asked him what if I was to host any other event whose colour is not green? "Just tell them it's your look. I have made several other green suits because of change in size but I have kept the first one for the memories!! I wear the green suit in most events mostly when the client colour is green!! Thank you Bob. RIP.

In a post, she narrated how Bob Collymore asked what she was up to during the meeting, but did not divulge further into the details.

She went on to say that Safaricom had lost a father who taught them how to utilize their potential for the best results and also growing in all aspects of life.

I have looked for words. I always know what to say but this one…….

We had a meeting with Bob together with the team about one and a half weeks ago. It was our usual briefs; this is what we are up to, this is what we are planning to do next! Our team is ambitious, so there are always questions on some daring things we want to do; some a pat on the back, some “what are you up to?” Bob knew that was the last time he will probably see our team. But that meeting was…..as usual, as any other meeting. As of last Friday, we were re-working some of his thoughts, feedback to re-send some stuff this week. I didn’t know that was the last time I will see him. Bob worked till his last days. But it has nothing to do with numbers here. We have lost our father who not only pushed us to get off our comfort zones, but also made our workplace the most human environment to work in! Because of Bob, we have learnt that we can thrive with our own uniqueness beyond our workplace but still grow in our careers and still be respected at work. He was kind, He was empathetic, He saw things through! And he didn’t dictate it to you, he met you at a place of understanding. I have so many things to say, but what I want everyone to know…Bob was a good man, a good human, a man who did and stood for GOOD!!! He impacted the community and gave back, built talent and advocated for change! I pray that I get to achieve even a quarter of what he has done in his amazing life! He was a great human!!!! I am so glad to have known him, and I am happy he played a very big part to where I am today. I am heartbroken Bob but we will take everything to the finishing line…….We will Miss you boss.”
