How onion juice promotes hair growth

If you look past the pungent smell, you can reap many hair benefits from onions.

You’re probably thinking that onions is the last vegetable you would want to have on your hair. It’s already hard enough to get the onion smell out of your hands when cooking so why would you risk doing that to your hair.

Before dismissing the idea though, you may want to consider the fact that onions contain a rich supply of vitamins, calcium, iron, potassium, manganese, phosphorous and magnesium as well as a number of antioxidants among other nutrients that are great for hair growth.

This is how the nutrients mentioned above can assist in hair growth.

Reduces inflammation

Antioxidants in onions assist in soothing an inflamed scalp which can often lead to dry skin. Goodbye dandruff and hair infections caused by open wounds.

Improves circulation

Onion juice can increase circulation under the skin. Good circulation ensures good nutrients and oxygen make their way to hair follicles thus stimulating hair growth.

Protection from infection

Thanks to its antibacterial and anti-fungal properties, onion juice protects against pathogens that may lower hair follicle function.

Prevents graying

If you don’t want your grey hair to be visible then onion juice may be the solution for you. Onions contain an anti-oxidant enzyme called catalese that helps maintain your hair’s natural color.

Moisturizing

Onion juice is a good hair moisturizer as it hydrates the hair follicles and prevents dry skin.

How to use onion juice on your hair

Massage onion juice on the scalp or any bald patches you may have on your hair. Let it set for about 15 to 20 minutes. Wash the onion juice out with warm water and shampoo. Repeat daily for maximum results.
