Njogu Wa Njoroge lured out of Kameme FM with a 7 figure salary

Popular vernacular presenter, Njogu Wa Njoroge, has now joined the club of highest earning radio presenters in Kenya.

Njogu Wa Njoroge has been the face of Kameme FM which enjoyed high ratings during his stint as a breakfast show host at the station.

Njogu was such an influential figure at the station that he was able to fill Kasarani stadium as he marked 15 years of service as a vernacular radio presenter.

Unfortunately President Uhuru-owned radio station was unable to raise Njogu’s salary, and when Radio Africa came to poach him, they couldn’t prevent his exit.

Ghafla! has learnt that Radio Africa presented Njogu Wa Njoroge with an offer he couldn’t turn a blind eye to.

According to snoops, Njogu was being paid a basic salary of Kes 400,000 at Kameme FM, which together with allowances totaled up to Kes 800,000.

Radio Africa approached Njogu with an offer twice his salary to work for their inaugural radio station, Gukena FM. Njogu was forced to terminate his contract prematurely and join Gukena FM; he even paid Kameme FM as he quit without issuing a two months notice as stipulated in the exit clause in his contract with Mediamax.

Ghafla! is told that Radio Africa offered Njogu a whopping salary of Kes 1.8 million, which is the same amount that Maina Kageni is thought to be paid.

Maina is reportedly the highest paid radio presenter in Kenya, word in the street has it that his salary was reviewed from Kes 1.2 million to 1.8 million in 2015 after Mediamax wanted to poach him from Radio Africa.

Radio Africa’s CEO was reportedly forced to appraise Maina’s salary upwards since he’s Classic FM’s cash cow; his show attracts high paying advertisers.

Njoku being such an influential figure with Gikuyu audience was offered a handsome package in hope that he will work his magic to get the ratings up and attract advertisers as well.
