The strange thing thieves were looking for when they vandalized Ivan Ssemwanga’s grave

It wasn’t the money he was buried with that the vandals were after.

The grave had been under tight security since the Rich Gang member died but the security guards reportedly quit after the relatives defaulted on the monthly payment of about Sh29, 000.

Many suspected that the thieves were after the money Ivan was buried with but a relative claims that the thieves were after something stranger, his skull.

“We have been hearing rumours that witch doctors were in need of Ssemwanga’s skull which they want to use to give wealth to their clients in order for them to be rich like Ssemwanga.” Ali Wamala a relative of Ssemwanga told Government-owned daily newspaper New Vision.

Aside from the menacing dogs, thieves could not get access to his grave as it was heavily reinforced with concrete and iron bars.

Speaking on the incident that has become the talk of the Nakaliro village in Kayunga town, Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Yahaya Were said: “This is a security matter and the police have already started investigating it to arrest the suspects for disturbing the peace of the dead.”
