IEBC responds after pressure to help Msando’s wife

Is IEBC going to help Msando's wife?

Last week, Eva Buyu complained that the electoral body had deserted her after the death of her husband.

In a moving letter to Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o, who read it as Kenya Human Rights Commission marked 25 years of operations at a Nairobi hotel, Ms Buyu pleaded for a job to take care of her children.

"I don't want to submit myself to another man in order to feed my children. I will appreciate any decent job that will enable me to cater for my family,” she said.

The story caused a furore with Kenyans on Twitter demanding that Ms Buyu be assisted.

Responding on Twitter, IEBC divulged that though they empathised with Ms Buyu they will not handle the matter on social media.

The Commission further noted that they were also waiting for answers regarding the murder of Mr Msando.

"We are hurt by the loss of our colleague Msando. We asked and still wait for answers. And as for support to family, we feel this is not a matter to discuss here. But to all well-meaning people, rest assured we care," IEBC tweeted.

The late IEBC manager was killed days to the much-disputed 2017 General Election.
