A witness to yesterday’s tragic accident that saw the country lose the Nyeri County Governor, Dr Wahome Gakuru left netizens curious after someone online claimed that he was the same witness during an earlier plane crash that killed a number of journalists and the pilot.

The man in question who identified himself as Dennis Muigai Ngengi caught Kenyans attention after shared his eye-witness account to Citizen TV where he alleged to have been present during the whole tragedy. He claimed to have been heading to Nairobi when the late Governor was involved in the deadly accident.

What was deemed peculiar was that he was also present after the Lake Nakuru chopper crash which happened on October 21, 2017, killing 5 people. Here, Njenga identified himself as a state pilot and a friend to the deceased pilot Apollo Malowa.

Njenga finally explained himself stating that it wasn’t actually him in Nakuru on the fateful day of the plane crash but mere coincidence that someone of similar physique and identification was a witness.

Well, trust Kenyans to find humour in the tiniest of things. Social media is now awash with funny pictures of the #Eyewitnesschallange where people are taking pictures of themselves wearing glasses similar to those worn by ‘both Njengas’.
