Thoughtful newborn gifts you can take to your next baby shower party

We have made shopping for your pregnant friend easier

Buying a gift for a newborn is not easy especially when the mother has not revealed the gender and you don't know if you're buying for a boy or a girl. In such a case, it's best to stick to neutrals or pretty much something that's neither pink or blue. When it comes to gifts for newborns, many people will prefer to buy clothes but then again, you find that people are not able to buy the right size of clothes. For a newborn, if you want your gift to be helpful, it's best to buy something that will help immediately as opposed to something that will come in handy when the child is three years old. I have seen a scenario where someone decided to offer the mom-to-be money in an envelope instead of a gift simple because they had no idea on what to buy and I'm assuming many other people have been in this predicament. In that light, we have compiled a list of thoughtful gifts for newborns that you can take to a baby shower.

1. Nursery rhymes CD.

A newborn sleeps a lot so the mother will spend a lot of time trying to soothe the kid to bed and the nursery rhymes help lull the baby. You can get different CDs at Text Book center.

2. Onesies.

The truth of the matter is, a newborn will mostly wear onesies. You can find really cute ones with funny statements. Get as many as you can and in different colors. If you put a baby in a onesie and socks, they'll be super comfortable.

3. Bigger clothes and shoes.

Kids outgrow clothes real fast. You could also buy slightly bigger clothes say from six months onwards which the mother can dress the kid later when they're a little bit grown.

4. Bouncy chair.

This is such a thoughtful gift as when the mom is busy, she can leave the kid in the bouncy chair for some time without any worry as the chair will keep the baby active.

5. A cool diaper bag.

The mom will be leaving for clinic appointments every now and then and not just that. Every time she needs to leave the house with the baby, she will need to carry a bag with some diapers, food, a toy maybe, water, swaddling blanket for breastfeeding time etc. Therefore, every new mom needs a nice diaper bag for such occasions.

6. Books for babies.

Newborns will definitely not need books but these books will come in handy later on so you might as well buy them sooner.

7. Breastfeeding pillow.

This comes in handy for mums during breastfeeding time to ensure that both the mom and child are comfortable.

8. An Ankara baby carrier.

Why Ankara? Well, it's different and trendy so why not? This is a gift every new mother will appreciate as strollers do not come cheap so if she cannot afford one at the time being, a baby carrier will be a great alternative.

9. Devices.

If you're one to love gadgets, you could get thoughtful gifts such as a nanny cam or baby monitor. They wil not necessarily come cheap but if it's a baby shower for someone you really care about, it's worth the investment.

10. Toys.

You can never really go wrong with toys especially the touchy feel-y kind or those that make sounds which are perfect for newborns.
