See Dr. Pimple Popper Go Back to Basics in This Blackhead Extraction Video

In a new YouTube video posted on Monday afternoon, dermatologist Dr. Sandra Lee, MD-aka, Dr. Pimple Popper-got back to basics with a classic blackhead extraction sequence that is sure to satisfy her longtime fans. Or as the doctor put it in an Instagram caption teasing the video, "...were Back to Blackheads! "

Dr. Pimple Popper Treats Blackheads on Man's Back

In the roughly three-minute clip, Dr. Lee uses a comedone extractor to push down on nearly a dozen blackheads, often accompanied by some juicy sound effects, all while having a rather quaint conversation about her favorite Italian food.

Given the sheer abundance of blackheads on the patient's back, Dr. Lee correctly guesses that he experienced frequent acne breakouts while growing up, which the patient confirms. "That will kinda get these going on you, unfortunately," she says. "Because you have a lot of little scars for oil to get trapped in."

Back acne isn't necessarily any different from acne you get elsewhere-your pores get clogged with sebum , and a zit forms. But your back is more prone to breakouts due to the concentration of hair follicles and sebaceous glands that exist there, Melissa Kanchanapoomi Levin, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist and clinical instructor at New York University Langone and Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, previously told Men's Health . Highly active people are especially susceptible since they tend to sweat more frequently, and wear tighter, more restrictive clothing-pretty much a perfect recipe for clogged pores.

Thankfully, if you happen to be one of those fit, active people who are especially prone, back acne is relatively easy to prevent if you shower immediately after working out and skip the compression gear in favor of more breathable clothing. Kanchanapoomi Levin also recommends a cleanser anti-bacterial benzoyl peroxide to help reduce flare-ups. We're big fans of this Differin wash, for starters.
