Common stereotypes about Kikuyu women

How true is it?

However, some of the stories told about Kikuyu women are pure misconceptions that are based on tribal stereotypes.

Some common misconceptions about Kikuyu women include;

They are bad cooks

Everyone will tell you that Kikuyu women are the worst cooks you will ever find on the face of the earth. They are often accused of cooking dry food, food with excess soup and mixing everything up in one pot commonly referred to as ‘mashakura’. However, some Kikuyu women are super good cooks and you can’t resist their food.

Hockey stick-like legs

That Kikuyus have extremely thin legs is also a misconception that people have been made to believe over time. Although most of their women may not be lucky to possess those beautiful Luhya-like legs, some are quite privileged and you can easily mistake them for another community.

Bad figure

That Kikuyu women do not have a richly endowed bottom is a big lie. I mean, just look at Avril with her curvaceous body that leaves everyone drooling. Well, they may not top the least of Kenya’s most curvaceous women but they are definitely not the worst.

Husband battery

Just because a section of Kikuyu women batter their husbands does not mean that if you marry a Kikuyu woman she must beat the hell out of you. You see, most men who are battered in the Mt. Kenya region are those drunkards who drink all day long without working. But well, if you think you can drink all day long then demand for food in the evening, be ready for a rough ride.

Gold-diggers

People will exclaim whenever you mention that you are planning to marry a Kikuyu woman because they are believed to be money lovers. What most people do not know is that Kikuyu ladies are very intelligent, hardworking and know how to work for money without depending on a man.
