Ababu Namwamba reveals the unknown reason he campaigned for Uhuru

In a candid interview with Pulselive.co.ke, Ababu opens up on why he switched camps and vigorously campaigned for Uhuru.

Many Kenyans, especially those from the NASA coalition speculated that Namwamba ditched the opposition and campaigned for the Jubilee administration led by Kenyatta and DP Ruto in order to be incorporated into the government.

However, the former Budalang'i MP has come out to explain why he switched camps and joined Jubilee.

Speaking exclusively to Pulselive.co.ke, Namwamba disclosed that he did not campaign for the president and his deputy to be appointed to government.

"I am a smart guy. I have gone to school and I have gone to school well. I am a patriot and I love my country. I could see clearly President Kenyatta and DP Ruto had a good vision for this country and I wanted to be part of that vision," the foreign affairs CAS said.

He admitted that he wanted to be associated with the Jubilee's agenda of making Kenya better.

"I am happy that they (Kenyatta and Ruto) won the election. I was very excited to hear about the Big Four Agenda of manufacturing, universal health care,  affordable housing, food security and I wanted to be part of that," the Foreign CAS stated.

Despite the risk of losing his Budalangi seat due to campaigning for the Jubilee Party in an area largely perceived to be pro-NASA, the ex-legislator maintained that he made a conscious decision adding that he had been vindicated.

"Even those who were opposed to my move are now following suit. Life is about taking risks. For you to discover new territory, you've got to be brave enough to lose sight of the shores. I have never shied away from taking risks and am a happy man," the former Budalangi MP affirmed.

He welcomed the new unity pact by President Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga stating that the new augurs well for the country.

Namwamba congratulated the two leaders for their show of statesmanship and putting the country first saying that it will lower political temperatures and bring back investor confidence in Kenya.

He also urged the other co-principals Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka, ANC's Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetangula to join the unity agenda to further take the country forward.
