Jane Mukami’s motivational weight loss journey that has inspired Kenyans (Photos)

"We have the power to change anything in our lives as long as we are willing to commit to doing the work.”- Jane Mukami

Award winning health and wellness blogger Jane Mukami is arguably one of Kenya’s fittest women.

The #fitKenyangirl is popularly known for her 10-day detox challenge not forgetting her sick body of course.

Like most women, Jane Mukami didn’t wake up one day and have the fit body that she has.

A lot of hard work and dedication went into it as seen in her most recent transformation photos below.

Jane had gained 7.5 kilos in less than 4 weeks last year following the passing of her brother.

As a coping mechanism, she ate her feelings away and completely stopped working out.

“I quit working out and turned to my favorite carb heavy comfort foods and as you can see, weight gain was emminent,” she captioned the photo.

All that changed for her however as in March of last year, she recommitted herself to working out and clean eating, giving herself time to slowly lose the weight.

“I paced myself because I had a lot of internal reconciling to do. With a body type that is quick to gain, yet very slow to lose weight, I had to find a goal, something that would motivate me to raise from my ashes.”

And motivation she found indeed.

“I boxed myself in by promising to be at my best by my next birthday. 6 months later I turned 38, had met my goal and ditched 20 pounds/ 10 kilos 2 weeks prior. I was back to my old self.”

For those lacking motivation, she had this message for you:

“Life sometimes happens; it’s okay to park and deal with the situation. We can however not let ourselves stay in 'the hole' and have to summon courage to find a reason to keep moving on and climb out of the hole.”

“Know this - we are not our circumstances. We have the power to change anything in our lives as long as we are willing to commit to doing the work.”“Health and fitness grounds me. It gives me energy, clarity, boosted self-confidence, increased self-esteem. It makes me love who I become when healthy. Every time I step away, the above diminishes. That's why I show up every day and give my best effort. Looking good is a secondary and welcome perkLet's Stay motivated.”

Her followers, clearly motivated, sounded off in the comment section. Here are some of their reactions:
