On the flipside, while eating healthy, these are the foods that you should avoid like a plague. The following foods will raise the acidity levels in your blood which is the main cause of many common diseases.
These are foods that have been processed in the factory and packaged for consumption. A lot of sugar and artificial ingredients are usually added into the food.The list consists of:
a). Processed meats such as bacon, sausages, canned meat, ham and more
b). Processed carbohydrates which are highly refined such as breakfast cereals and breads, cakes and biscuits.
c). Processed milk products such as cheese.
d). Canned vegetables and tomatoes.
e). Microwave ready foods like popcorn
High intake of sugar raises the sugar level in the blood which lowers the pH to acidic levels. As a result one may risk contracting Diabetes Type 2, heart and liver disease. Acidic levels in the blood raise chances of cancer cell growth. High amounts of sugar are also responsible for weight gain since the excess sugar is stored as fat in the body.
These are the drinks that contain high sugar levels: soda, flavoured juices, flavored coffees, fruit juices, Ketchup and BBQ sauce, low fat yoghurt, iced tea, energy drinks, vitamin water, pre-made soup and bottled smoothies.
3. Junk foods and snacks.
Junk foods are very popular among Kenyans especially when they are travelling. However they contain low levels of nutrition and artificial ingredients.
Ice cream is loaded with high levels of sugar and calories.
High intake of red meat like goat, lamb, beef, pork, veal, venison can take the level of acidity in the body and raises chances of getting colorectal and/or bowel cancer.
While they may be cheap, they might eventually cost much more when they cause health complications. Fast foods contain highly processed and engineered junk foods that have little to no nutritional value and very high levels of calories. The net effect will be rising acidic levels in the blood.
