6 great benefits of chia seeds
Very nutritious
Some invested in farming chia seeds while others bought them in wholesale to sell to retailers and individuals. And while the rush seemed like an overrated fad, chia seeds are truly nutritious.
And of course, even if the rush for them has gone down, their nutrition value hasn’t. Some of the health benefits of chia seeds include:
1. Rich in protein
Compared to other plants, chia seeds are enriched with lots of protein. To build and repair tissues, your body needs proteins.
2. Weight loss
One of the reasons why people were rushing to get chia seeds is for weight loss purposes. And although no single food can entirely help you lose weight, some foods make it easier. For instance chia foods are rich in fiber making them excellent for weight loss.
3. Improves digestion
Due to their high content in fiber, chia seeds improve digestion and prevent constipation. Making them part of your diet thus, will improve your bowel movements and give you an easy time in the bathroom.
4. Rich in antioxidants
They have high amounts of antioxidants. Antioxidants fight free radicals that would otherwise cause diseases such as cancer.
5. Omega-3 fatty acids
Chia seeds contain omega-3 fatty acids which have various benefits to the body. They are known to reduce depression, prevent heart disease as well as promote good sleep.
6. Calcium
Calcium is good for the bones and teeth. Studies show that the amounts of Calcium contained in an ounce of chia seeds is more compared to that contained in most dairy products.
