Drama as Jubilee’s Charles Kamuren wins Baringo South by-election

The seat fell vacant following the death of Grace Kapchoim

Kipchilat’s team protested the move with her chief agent declining to sign the final documents maintaining that results from some polling station were in contention.

According to the chief agent, the decision to announce the winner was ill-advised as results from some polling stations were disputed in the tight race.

Kamuren garnered 12277 votes in the tight contest that saw Maendeleo Cha Chap’s Cynthia Kipchilat come second with 8968 votes.

The seat fell vacant following the death of Grace Kapchoim who won te seat without holding any campaign rally as she was bed-ridden throughout the campaign period.

IEBC put the voter turn out at 61.48% with 21617 voters out of the 35,162 registered casting their votes.

The exercise which was conducted in132 polling stations saw 82 votes rejected.
