CJ Maraga and 5 Supreme Court judges were bribed by UhuRuto – High Court judge

The six Supreme Court judges on Monday ruled to uphold President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election.

Former Nairobi gubernatorial hopeful and High Court advocate Miguna Miguna sensationally claimed on Saturday that the Supreme Court judges led by Chief Justice David Maraga were bribed by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto ahead of the Monday verdict to uphold their victory.

The controversial lawyer, and now an ardent supporter of National Resistance Movement for ‘electoral reforms’ tweeted that CJ Maraga and five other judges who he sat with on the bench to uphold President  Kenyatta’s victory acted out of intimidation, and lied to Kenyans, after a coercion from Jubilee to both IEBC and the Judiciary.

“CJ David Maraga and his fellow weak-kneed judges know that there was no credible election on October 26th. They know that Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto bribed and threatened them together with the IEBC but they are so dishonest that they pretend that everything is okay,” Dr Miguna tweeted Saturday.

Questioned on why he was injured by the petition ruling which upheld Uhuru’s victory despite Nasa having not been part of the petition, Dr Miguna claimed that Maraga erred in the ruling and that it didn’t concern him on who after all, filed the petition.

“Justice is not rendered based on who filed or files a petition and who doesn't or didn't file. A court of competent jurisdiction has a duty to render a fair and just determination based only on credible evidence and law. David Maraga failed to do so! That's a fact. Stop wailing!” Miguna added.

Dr Miguna’s sentiments come after the claim from Nasa leader Raila Odinga who said shortly after the Supreme Court upheld President Uhuru Kenyatta that the judges’ decision was due to the pressure exerted to the Supreme Court judges.

"It was a decision taken under duress. We do not condemn Supreme Court, we sympathise with it," Mr Odinga said, minutes after the CJ Maraga led team made a ruling to uphold the October 26 polls.

Mr Odinga, through his adviser Salim Lone, said on Monday that the illegitimacy perception the coalition has created amongst Kenyans has not changed.

“We in NASA had repeatedly declared before this Supreme Court ruling today (November 20) that we consider this government to be illegitimate and do not recognize it. This position has not been changed by the Court ruling,” Mr Odinga said through his aide.

He added: “we do not condemn the Court; we sympathize with it, (because) it was a decision taken under duress” quipping that already the Supreme Court verdict was foreseen.

On Monday November 20, the Supreme Court led by Chief Justice David Maraga, in a unanimous decision, dismissed the petitions challenging the election of President Kenyatta in the repeat poll for “lack of merit.”

During interviews for te position he is serving, Chief Justice, an ardent follower of the SDA church, swore with the Bible saying that “I have never and will never take a bribe.”
