Raila’s team proposes drastic changes to save NASA from split

Wiper MPs had threatened that their party would leave the coalition

Several legislators proposed that the Opposition Coalition should merge into a single political party with a single command structure.

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala led the call for affiliate parties to merge into one unit.

NASA currently constitutes four main political parties which include ODM, Wiper, Ford Kenya, and ANC.

The party leaders of each of the affiliates also serve as NASA principals although most of the decisions are made by the officials of the respective political parties.

Raila's swearing-in

“What is appearing as a possible fall out in NASA is due to conflict of interests. Party officials want to front their own opinion,” Malala stated.

The Kakamega Senator further revealed that disagreements between the partner parties had led to the cancellation of Odinga’s swearing in ceremony.

“We should have sworn in Raila Odinga a long time, were it not for the dissenting opinions from affiliate parties,” the vocal senator revealed.

Stability

Malala’s message was supported by Bondo MP Gideon Ochanda who stated that NASA should follow the steps taken by Jubilee when it transformed into a single party.

Budalang’i MP Raphael Wanjala, on his part regretted that having many parties had denied the Odinga-led coalition a chance to win more seats in the last General Election.

Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo also supported the merging, explaining it would bring harmony and stability.
