A police officer attached to Deputy President, William Ruto admitted to hospital after accidentally shooting himself.

A police officer attached to Deputy President William Ruto, has been admitted to hospital after sustaining an injury.

Sergeant Kipyegon Kemei, an Administration accidentally shot himself on Monday evening.

Kemei reportedly holstered a pistol on his waist not remembering that he had cocked it and unfortunately pulled the trigger shooting himself on the leg.

The AP was reportedly leaving his Buruburu home for work when the incident happened.

He was rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Nairobi where he is receiving treatment in a stable condition.

However Kemei is not a lone target in the list of people accidentally shooting themselves.

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in 2011 of 32,351 deaths in USA the ‘Gun Capital of the world’ occurred due to firearms, 591 deaths were due to "accidental discharge" and an additional 248 due to "undetermined intent"

Nearly 1.7 million children in USA, live in households where guns are stored either loaded or not locked. By the end of 2015, about 265 children under 18 picked up a firearm and shot someone by accident, and 83 of those shootings were fatal.

Terry Kath

The founding member and lead guitarist of the band, Chicago died in 1978 at a party. He reportedly picked up an unloaded revolver and  joking about playing Russian Roulette he aimed it at his head and then pulled the trigger and nothing happened, So he tried the same trick with a semiautomatic pistol that turned out to have a bullet in the chamber. Kath died on the spot. His last words to his wife were reportedly, "Don't worry, it's not loaded."

 2. Al Capone

you would think that twelve heavily armed bodyguards with ice crossing through their veins would be enough to keep a gangster boss safe, apparently not. In 1928, Capone actually shot himself in both legs and the groin. According to media reports at the time, Capone had just finished a round of golf with a friend and was entering the car to head home. As Capone rummaged through his bag for a club, a revolver in the bag reportedly fired. He survived his ordeal though and went ahead to assassinate more 30 people.

3. Lil' Wayne

When Dwayne Carter Jr was just 12, the boy who would grow up to be a world-famous rapper nearly bled to death after he accidentally shot himself in the chest, while playing with a 9-mm handgun. Carter still managed to call 911, and an off-duty officer responded. He kicked down the door and escorted Carter to the hospital. Years later, the officer was eating at a restaurant when he was summoned to come meet a fellow diner who turned out to be Lil' Wayne. "I almost died, and this man saved my life. I'll never forget him," Lil Wayne was quoted saying by the Week.
