Speaking during a public rally on Friday, Mr Kuria disclosed that Chuka MP Muthomi Njuki was the man who tore Muthama's pants.

Loosely translated as: "I work with Muthomi Njuki in the Energy Committee in Parliament. We work very closely and I can assure you that he is a good and valuable leader. I also love him very much because when I came first came to Parliament there was a fight which broke out during a particular sitting. During the scuffle Muthama’s trousers were torm and do you know who did it? It is this MP Muthomi Njuki."

In 2014, Mr Muthama hit headlines after he was badly beaten during a parliamentary session that had been convened to vote on the Security Laws (Amendment) Bill 2014 introduced in Parliament by the Executive.

CORD and Jubilee leaders were in sharp disagreement on the adoption of the Bill leading to the chaotic scene which forced Speaker Justin Muturi to adjourn the session pre-maturely.

The attack on Muthama was particularly widely reported as he was captured on camera with torn trousers and several injuries on his body.

It was never known who attacked the Machakos Senator as several leaders were also injured.

Mr Njuki, who is aligned to the Jubilee Party and the man behind the act, has expressed interest in the Tharaka Nithi Gubernatorial seat.
