Kirubi had been appointed as a Non-Executive Chairperson at the Brand Kenya Board, a body tasked with marketing the country as a key investment and tourist destination.
In yesterday’s reshuffle, former Nation Media Group CEO Linus Gitahi will take over the post.
It is not clear what informed the decision to drop the seasoned entrepreneur and industrialist from the post.
Kirubi has been battling ill health and had jetted out of the country to the US for specialized treatment.
His investment include commercial and residential real estate, Capital FM, Haco Tiger Brands, Centum investments among others.
Other personalities who lost their posts in the recent reshuffle include former Secretary to the Cabinet and head of Public Service Francis Muthaura.
Titus Ibui will now take over from Muthaura as the Chairperson, LAPSSET Corridor Development Authority.
