93 year old Kimitei Kiplagat shot to the limelight after he threatened to sue the DP and demanded his traditional regalia which was used during the coronation of DP William Ruto as a Tugen elder in Eldama Ravine recently.
It emerged that the regalia was stashed into one of the DP’s vehicles by his handlers against the expectations of Jonah Taalam who had offered the regalia to be used at the high profile event.
“The regalia belongs to Kimitei, what is going on and what you hear some saying the old man is a liar is malice, I call upon people spreading such rumours to stop ad respect the old man,” Taalam said.

During the event, the DP was assured of votes from Baringo county as the scramble for political support from the county took a new twist.
Elders who participated at the event also promised not to crown any other person from the area, declaring their support for the DP.
"After scrutinizing you for a long time, we have chosen you from the long list of our leaders to take over as President in 2022," he elders declared.
