Emotional moment at Governor Gakuru burial that made Mwai Kibaki to cry

Former President Kibaki and DP Ruto's wife, Rachael, shed tears as Gakuru's son sang a song for his dad.

While the ceremony was sad as is normal for such an occasion, emotions run high as Gakuru’s sons, Wangai, Mugambi Mwenda, and Maina Kimathi, were paying tribute to their father.

Mugambi did not only read a tribute, but also sang Made a Way, an emotional song originally done by Travis Greene. He was joined by his colleagues from the Alliance High School.

Mugambi, who is still sitting for his KSCE exams, delivered a passionate and emotional song that sent many in tears, notably, former President Mwai Kibaki and Deputy President William Ruto’s wife.

"Thank you guys for praying for me as I did my exams and I thank President Uhuru Kenyatta for asking Kenyans to stand with me. I stand here today because my father has imparted may good things in my life and I now have God as my father, goodbye buddy,” Mugambi stated.

The former Governor’s wife, Catherine Wahome, eulogised her late husband as visionary, a diligent thinker and a selfless leader who always cared for his family.

“Despite challenges Gakuru had a special heart for his boys and family. You have indeed left a big gap and we shall still soldier on and we know we will succeed,” Mrs Wahome remarked.
