Vanessa Mdee denied access to government building over wearing miniskirt
Changing Times
In a series of tweets, Ms Mdee was infuriated with authorities manning the building, saying it was uncalled for to deny her entry simply because she was in a miniskirt.
She said that it was high time authorities in Tanzania looked beyond women dress code.
“Only in Tanzania is my skirt which is at my knees too short to enter a public corporate building. This is incredible” reads one of Vanesaa’s Tweets.
She added that “Sawa mimi mnasema navaa vibaya, poa. Lakini how do you explain all the other cases and women responding to this post. Kuna tatizo. Na halipo kwenye mavazi. Lipo kwenye treatment based on objectifying the woman".
A section of the public echoed her sentiments stating that women were suffering in silence.
Mdee mentioned that she was only granted entry to the building after making a call to the person she was going to see, forcing him to come and pick her from the basement of the building.
