Shetani ashindwe – DP Ruto’s furious tweet after Bishop rejected his expensive gift

Deputy President William Ruto has sent out a furious tweet following reports that the Pope ordered Kisumu Diocese Archbishop Phillip Anyolo to return the car to the owner.

In his tweet on Sunday, Ruto said that the efforts by Christian leaders to empower the church was offending magicians and they were now sending out desperate lies over the gift.

The Deputy President said the Sh4 million car gift was bought by Christian leaders after a request by the Chairperson of Catholic Members of Parliament.

The master of deceit as always is spewing desperate lies. The car gift was bought by Christian leaders including UK and myself at the request of the chair of Catholic MPs. Understandably Empowering the church offends magicians and the evil spirits they worship. Shetani ashindwe!” wrote DP Ruto.

Pope intervention

The DP’s words come a day after Opposition Chief Raila Odinga said that the Pajero gift the DP had presented to Kisumu Diocese Archbishop Phillip Anyolo during his installation was returned after Pope Francis intervened.

The ODM party leader who was addressing mourners at a funeral in Ugenya on Saturday revealed that Bishop Anyolo complied with the orders, claiming that the car was bought from the proceeds of corruption.

True to his instruction, the car was returned because it was acquired from proceeds of corruption…Public funds are being looted daily yet poor Kenyans are suffering. Every day, the prices of commodities are rising while graft perpetrators, who are known to the public, run to churches with stolen money.” Odinga said.

Bishop Anyolo

Bishop Anyolo confirmed that the controversial Mitsubishi Pajero 2012 model that was presented to him by the DP is no longer in his possession and he does not use it.

The Bishop stated that he directed the vehicle be channeled to another institution, which would benefit from it as he was already “contented” with what he had by the time the gift was presented.
