Mr Kenyatta joined the family of Nzioka Waita in mourning the loss of his dad.
In a tweet, the head of state said: "Pole sana for the loss of your Father, Mzee Raphael Mwangangi Waita. May God comfort you, your friends and the larger Waita Family. and I will keep you in our prayers".
After his re-election, Mr. Kenyatta appointed Waita as the Chief of Staff and Head of the Presidential Delivery Unit (PDU).
