Obado’s bodyguard, Calvins Omondi, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon after he accompanied another of the governor’s aides, Casper Obiero who had been summoned to Oyugis police station.
The latest arrest makes five, the total number of suspects in police custody, even as detectives indicated that they are in the last stages of resolving the murder.
The Standard quoted its sources close to the investigations who indicated that the suspects were talking and exposing their alleged accomplices.
“At this rate, we are going to arrest the prime suspects who actually killed Sharon. The suspects are talking. They are naming possible accomplices to the kidnap and murder,” one of the officers working on the case said.
Omondi and Obiero, like the other suspects did not take a plea when they were arraigned at a Kisii court as police asked for ten more days to finalise their investigations.
Obado’s personal assistant Michael Oyamo was the first suspect to be apprehended alongside former MCA Lawrence Mula.
On Sunday, a taxi driver identified as Jack Gombe was arrested after it emerged that his car had been used by Sharon’s kidnappers.
Gombe’s car was said to have been driven by Obiero.
