A 10-year-old boy is nursing injuries after his stepfather vigorously pulled his penis for allegedly stealing Ksh50.

The boy, who is currently being treated at the Nyeri County Referral Hospital, did not report the incident to his mother after the stepfather threatened him.

Dr Eric Mabeya, a resident surgeon at the Nyeri County Referral Hospital, said the boy sustained soft tissue injuries and is expected to undergo an operation.

He disclosed that although the boy’s urination had not been affected he is traumatized and will need psychological help.

Neighbours arrest stepfather

According to reports, the incident which occurred on Thursday last week was reported on Saturday after the mother raised alarm.

The mother said she learned of the incident on Saturday when her daughter informed her that the brother was injured.

After she raised an alarm and the stepfather was arrested by residents and handed to police at Endarasha Police Post where he was detained.

The child’s mother said the man has often assaulted the boy and had even recently hurt his hand but she always forgave him (stepfather) hoping he would change the violent behaviour.
