Police are investigating a shocking incident in which gunmen opened fire on a Machakos-based businesswoman’s family, leaving two dead and one person seriously injured.

Reports indicate that the gunmen sprayed the businesswoman together with her mother with bullets, killing them instantly.

Her husband sustained serious gunshot injuries during the fracas and was rushed to Shalom Community Hospital.

Athi River sub-county police boss Samuel Mukuusi confirmed the incident, stating that the armed gunmen waylaid the businesswoman outside her gate and struck as her mother was opening the gate for her.

It was not immediately clear if the assailants made away with any valuables.

The police boss stated that the assailants first shot the mother before turning the gun on the businesswoman outside her home in Katani.

The bodies of the deceased have been moved to Shalom community hospital morgue.

Police have launched investigations into the incident with no arrest made so far.
