Sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have identified 4 persons of interest in the murder of sergeant Kipyegon Kenei.

Reports on a local daily indicated that the detectives had identified four people from the office of the Deputy President for questioning.

Additionally, the detectives will question three officials from the Department of Defence (DoD) and two from an unnamed telco company.

Call logs obtained from the slain officers' mobile phone led detectives into zeroing in on who to question in the murder that has shocked the nation.

Kenei reached out to a colleague

Detectives are also looking into the connection between the two DoD officials and the Ksh39 billion fake arms deal suspect Daniel Otieno Omondi.

Omondi had presented himself as a general in the arms deal he and his co-accused had allegedly lured in Polish nationals.

Investigations have revealed that on February 18, Kenei had contacted a colleague inquiring on how one records a statement.

He and other colleagues had been summoned by the DCI to record statements on the alleged meeting between Rashid Echesa and the Polish investors that took place at Harambee House Annex.
