Netizens, however, accused the DPP official of siding with the traffic police officers without understanding the circumstances under which he resorted to physically attacking the officers.

The officers were also seen hurling stones at the tuk tuk, with unverified reports indicating that his windscreen was shattered in the melee.

Ondimu agreed that the police officers may have engaged in a criminal manner but said such issues should be addressed through the set guidelines and independent institutions.
“We all have complaints about police malpractices that's why we have set up institutions to deal with the issues. Buy engaging in affray or attacking a police officer, assaulting ain't the way forward. Framers of the Constitution did not envisage such conduct,” he tweeted.
