Musician behind hateful Kikuyu song attacking Kambas arrested
John Gichiri Njau was apprehended by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC). Appearing before the Milimani Court on Monday morning Njau was charged with three counts of ethnic contempt.
Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi presided over the case released Njau on a 700,00 cash bail.
The case will be heard on April 19, 2018.
Officials at the NCIC divulged that they were hunting down the other artist.
The song, Ikamba caused an uproar after its release forcing the Kenya Film Classification and Coordination Board (KFCB) CEO Ezekiel Mutua to make a report to Youtube.
Youtube then went ahead to pull down the song that has since been termed hateful.
"KFCB flagged the video titled Ikamba by Isaiah ft Waharaka and YouTube has removed it from online. We regulate content from creation, to distribution, broadcast, exhibition, and possession,"Mutua tweeted.
Ikamba was produced to castigate Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu and ridicule members of another community over the logging fiasco in Kitui.
