3 family members die in road crash at notorious spot

They hit an oncoming matatu at night.

Three ladies, said to be sisters, rammed head-on into an oncoming vehicle which was headed to Nairobi and died on the spot, near Kimende area, Lari Sub county, Kiambu County.

Lari traffic base commander Bernard Indeke, who confirmed the night carnage, said that a man identified as Jesse Kamau was driving a Toyota Probox of registration number KBS 892 carrying family members from Nairobi and heading towards Naivasha.

He added that the driver, on reaching Magina, improperly overtook another vehicle and collided head on with an oncoming Matatu from Nyena SACCO.

“As a result of the said improper overtaking the Probox lost control veered off the road rolled …three passengers died on the spot,” Mr Indeke said.

The three bodies were taken to Uplands funeral home pending postmortem. Meanwhile, the injured driver was rushed to Kijabe Mission Hospital.
