Philip Moi’s comment on DP Ruto’s speech at Jonathan’s funeral

Philip Moi’s comment on DP Ruto’s speech at Jonathan’s funeral

Former President Daniel arap Moi’s son, Philip Moi was reportedly impressed by Deputy President William Ruto’s speech at the funeral of his late brother Jonathan Moi.

This is according to a close friend of the Mois, Tony Gachoka, who also works for the family’s television company – KTN News.

On Wednesday night, Gachoka commended Ruto for rising above partisan politics to mourn with the Mois on the loss of Jonathan Moi.

He added that Philip had commented to him that he found the speech delivered by the DP to be very “comforting”.

Gachoka’s guest, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, equally commended the DP’s behavior at Jonathan’s funeral.

He (Ruto) did speak very well, I must say. Sometimes he veers off into unnecessary confrontation but this time, he eulogized Jonathan very well and acknowledge that he is what he is because Moi sprung him into public life,” Wetangula said.

The hostility between Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi could be seen through silent political undertones but did not play out in public.

The DP was unable to see Mzee Moi even as Gideon introduced many of his political allies to mourn with his father.

During Jonathan’s funeral service at Kabarak University, the event organizers had Ruto introduce Gideon to deliver the eulogy on behalf of Mzee Moi. Routine protocol is that the highest-ranking official speaks last, even in instances where a higher ranking individual has to deliver a speech through a representative.
