Gov't confirms Weston Hotel is built on public land, day after Sonko said it would not be spared

The matter of Ruto’s hotel is being handled by the NLC – an independent constitutional commission established to manage public land on behalf of the national and county governments.

The hotel has since 2015 been on the spotlight over its controversial history.

It initially belonged to Directorate of Civil Aviation, the predecessor to KCAA, before it was allocated to a company owned by Ruto in 2002 - while he was serving as Home Affairs Minister.

The allocation was done in spite of a directive by then Transport PS Francis Muthaura who had ordered that DCA be issued with a title deed to protect from land grabbers.

Ruto's spokesperson, David Mugonyi, did not immediately respond to a request for a comment to pulselive.co.ke.
