Addressing the public at a fundraiser at Bishop Gatimu Ngandu Girls School on Friday, Kuria and his Mathira counterpart Rigathi Gachagua slammed Duale for urging legislators to shoot down the nomination of Sarah Serem for an ambassadorial job.
“She is a nominee of the President. We will approve her name. The Majority Leader is wrong on this one and I will mobilise other members of Parliament to pass the nomination,” Kuria stated.
Kuria promised to do all within his powers to ensure that Serem’s nomination sails through.
Addressing the National Assembly on Thursday, Duale urged the National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations Committee to reject Serem’s nomination, maintaining that she slashed their salaries and allowances in the 11th parliament while serving as the Salaries and Remuneration Commission chairperson.
The majority leader in parliament maintained that the vetting exercise would present a perfect opportunity to settle scores with Serem who has been nominated to head Kenya’s embassy in China.
