Sonko shakes hand with powerful Gov’t official who threatened him

He is now my good friend.

Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Sonko said that his relationship with Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho was restored following meetings chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Early this year, Sonko was in a fierce tussle with Mr. Kibicho over the management on Nairobi County.

According to the flamboyant Governor, the PS was undermining his authority and even alluded that he (Kibicho) was sending threats through messages.

The alleged threats forced Mr. Sonko to run away from Nairobi and relocated to his Mua Hills home in Machakos county, where he conducted Nairobi’s County affairs from.

However, it now seems that all this is over as the two decided to bury the hatchet over a cup of tea in a bid to focus on the development of Kenya’s Capital.

During the interview, Sonko insisted that he was still in charge of Nairobi adding that his brawl with Kibicho was mere politics.

"There is no permanent enmity in politics and the senior officers we had issues with them we sorted those issues. Actually, the President himself chaired that meeting and we are now in good working relations with the National Government.

"I know you want to talk about Kibicho, he is now my good friend. We had tea together and we sorted out our issues and now we are working together for the betterment of Nairobi and the whole of Kenya," he said during the interview.
