In an account made by his former aide Miguna Miguna, in his book Peeling back the Mask, the former Prime Minister swore never to be involved with Mr Musyoka after abandoning him in the controversial 2007 General Election.
Speaking in his presidential suite at a hotel in Geneva, Odinga disclosed that the former Vice President firmly believes that he must be the President of Kenya because his mother allegedly prophesied so.
"After Raila became Prime Minister and we were sitting in his presidential suite in a hotel in Geneva in 2009 – with Salim Lone net to me – I asked if he could ever work with Kalonzo again, especially now that they were both holding important positions in the grand coalition government. Raila looked at us and answered dead pan: “Kalonzo is shallow and self-absorbed: I can never work with him again,” Miguna quotes in his book
Odinga added: “He believes that he was ordained President because his mother, who was a ‘seer, predicted it”.
If Miguna’s account is anything to go by, it simply confirms the adage ‘in politics there are no permanent enemies’ as Odinga and Musyoka are currently working together to ouster Jubilee in the August 8 Election – under the political vehicle National Super Alliance (NASA).
Though there have been speculations that Mr Kalonzo would ditch NASA, Odinga on Sunday affirmed that the Wiper leader is in the Opposition to stay.
