Mutahi Ngunyi's verdict on Uhuru's cabinet

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has hailed President Uhuru Kenyatta for succesfuly tricking former Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko.

Yesterday, President Kenyatta nominated Tobiko alongside John Munyes and Ukur Yatani to his cabinet but failed to reveal their posts.

The former DPP who handed who has since handed in his resignation will be subjected to vetting by the parliament.

A post from Ngunyi’s Twitter handle read: “What Uhuru did not do as he appointed Cabinet is more important than what he did. He dissolved the Cabinet without saying it. Then he tricked Tobiko. Very clever."

Following his nomination, the public awaits to see if he will pass the vetting by parliament and the post he will eventually hold.

Netizens were quick to respond with some criticizing Tobiko for leaving a job with security of tenure in exchange for one which is dependent on the president and parliament.

Meanwhile, Kajiado leaders led by governor Joseph Ole Lenku have welcomed Tobiko’s nomination and thanked the president “for remembering the people of Kajiado”.
