Joe Mwangi arrested

Detectives launched his manhunt of Friday

DCI announces manhunt for Joe Mwangi, ex Wendy Waeni manager

The Directorate of Criminal investigations (DCI) has confirmed the arrest of Joseph Mwangi Nduta alias Joe Mwangi.

Mwangi has been apprehended days after DCI launched his Manhunt in connection with the forgery of a letter purporting to be from a Cabinet Secretary threatening Wendy Waeni’s Magdalene Mbele.

“Mr Joseph Mwangi NDUTA alias Joe is in our custody. He will be charged appropriately once necessary police process is complete. We thank everyone that shared information on his whereabouts,” reads a tweet from DCI.

On Friday last week, detectives had requested Joe Mwangi to surrender to the authorities with immediate effect.

"Mr Joseph Mwangi NDUTA alias Joe whose photos appear below is #Wanted by @DCI_KenyaDetectives in connection with the Forgery of a Letter purporting to be from a Cabinet Secretary threatening the complainant- Magdalene Mbele of some consequences," the DCI said in a statement.

The arrest comes weeks after Waeni's mother came out to revealing that Mwangi intimidated her whenever she asked for her daughter's share of earnings.

Spotlight on Joe Mwangi

Mwangi was put on the spotlight by gymnast Wendy Waeni, after disclosing that she never gets a single penny despite touring the world to showcase her talent.

“I have been performing all over the world and right now I live in Huruma because of Joe Mwangi. I have performed in Rwanda, Germany, China and I have not gotten even a single penny, my mother is really suffering, as we talk she sells sweets and cigarettes at night and we live in a single room. It is really very sad people are telling me I’m rude, that I’m a brat because I post things on Instagram which I don’t know. I don’t have access to my social media accounts, its Joe Mwangi who controls them” said Wendy Waeni.

However the former manager accused Ms Mbele (Waeni's mother) of poorly managing funds raised for the young girl (Waeni).
